Fontan Registry for Congential Heart Disease Patients

The ANZ Fontan registry.
All doctors of Australia and New Zealand working with patients who had a Fontan operation have decided to set up a registry gathering all health information of their patients. If you or your child have not been contacted yet, you can ask to join by going on the website http://www.fontanregistry.com . All you have to do is send the team at the ANZ Fontan registry the signed consent form, and they will receive your information from your cardiologists every time that you will see them. You have nothing else to do and your information will remain confidential!
Why should you participate? The registry will clarify what happens to patients beyond the second decade after a Fontan operation. Patients will be the first one to know of the latest developments and research. They will be offered to participate to trials to find out what is the best medication for them when they are well. For those unfortunate who are not doing well, the registry may become an easy way to access drugs as soon as they are developed. All doctors are all working together on this project, and we hope that it will be the best way to provide excellence in care after Fontan surgery.

AMAZING & TALENTED FUNDRAISER - CORRINE BRISLIN

Corrine Brislin is thirteen years old and has personally raised more than $8,000.00 for charity during the past four years. She has also helped to raise thousands more by performing at charity events. Each year she chooses a different charity that supports children with chronic disease. As well as raising needed funds, Corrine enjoys raising awareness in communities about the different diseases, conditions and disabilities affecting children today.

Corrine is now in her fifth year of fundraising and has chosen HeartKids WA as her nominated charity. Corrine decided to raise money for WA children with congenital heart disease after watching a program on television designed to educate Western Australians about the severity and occurrence of heart disease in children and the effect on families.

Corrine likes the idea of support groups and recognises the important role they play in communities. She also likes the challenge of educating communities about lesser known charities who she believes find it difficult to raise necessary funds in such a competitive environment.

Corrine performs at community functions, fundraising events and busks with her instruments to raise money. Her table has a variety of information about HeartKids WA and includes a heart wrenching story about a local boy and his family’s journey after he was born with congenital heart disease.

So far this year, Corrine has raised just over $1,000.00 for HeartKids WA, increasing her total to over $9,000.00 and hopes to improve on that amount substantially by the end of the twelve month period.

Last year Corrine was presented with the Premier’s Citizenship Award at Harvey’s Australia Day Ceremony. The award recognises her fundraising efforts and contributions to her local community. Displayed on her piano are more than twenty trophies awarded for piano, cello, viola, violin and vocal performances at the Bunbury Eisteddfod.

She often receives requests to sing at various functions and is keen to pursue a musical career in conjunction with her dream to become a marine archeologist. Corrine is fascinated by ship wrecks and their history.

She is the youngest member of the South West Philharmonics and a member of the South West Youth Orchestra however most of her busking performances are rock and roll based for her electric violin.
